R&D 100 Award

I was honored to be a part of the team that was awarded the 2017 R&D100 Award for the Fusion FIBC / bulk bags.
Fusion FIBC/Bulk Bag is a technology that utilizes a novel and automated thermal bonding process of highly oriented, woven polypropylene coated fabrics. The result is a bulk bag constructed of thermally bonded (heat sealed) seams that does not damage the strength of the polypropylene fabric, which is able to retain >95% of the original tensile strength of the fabric. The Fusion™ bulk bags, have improved functionality, increased sustainability, and this technology enables a cleaner and higher performance bag that impacts every part of the value chain.

Carbon Dioxide Capture Polymers
In my graduate studies advised by Coray M. Colina, we primarily researched porous membranes for gas separation applications, specifically carbon dioxide separation and sequestration. If you are interested in this work, I recommend to first look at our recent Chemical Reviews article, which summarizes most of the recent work in the area.
